My Dad showed me this today. This is so random on first watch… but I can’t stop laughing about it.
Sam Pura & The Panda
David Bazan - In Stitches
This song breaks my heart. If you don’t get goosebumps when you hear this… you aren’t human.
Rage Against The Machine - Snake Charmer
I had to post this song at some point. I had a long talk with “Snake” from Duck Duck Goose today about recording their new record. He asked me if I liked Rage and said he wanted their new record to sound & feel like them… and I immediaitely realized my favorite sounding Rage song is “Snake” Charmer. Pretty funny.
Awesome drum and bass tones. My favorite part of this entire song is after the first chorus… the bass on the 3rd measure decides to play it’s line an octave lower (just once)… and it sounds so fucking badass… and then it never happens again in the song.
Julian Casablancas - Left & Right In The Dark
This is a new track from the brand new Julian Casablancas record.
It’s got a very “New wave” feel. I really love that clean guitar in the verse. Such a bad ass line, with such a smooth and glossy tone. Almost Steely Dan like.
(BTW… take note of the “Fade out” / “Fade up” in the ending.. really weird)
Great new record. Check it out!
American Beauty (via littlemiss) (via labellafigura)
One of the very best movies ever.
(via danielholter)Deftones - Digital Bath
This is the best snare sound in my music collection.
Watch how fucking badass Refused’s drummer was.
He hits so hard! But he has such good control and dynamics on his cymbals. He doesn’t just bash the fuck out of them like all novice drummers.
My Five year plan
In 3 years I’ll be done with my A.A. in Marketing.
I want to go to school like a year after that after I get a steady income and enough money so that I can move to Winter Park and go to Full Sail or some music school so I can learn about recording arts or show production.
Then I’ll start my own business or work for a record label. hopefully…
Piece of advice?
As a Full Sail recording arts grad, might I suggest looking into taking the 40 grand FS is going to cost you and using that to live on for a few years while you intern for very little or no pay?
The knowledge you gain at FS, while valuable, will pale in comparison with the experience you gain working in the real world, plus the connections you make will serve you far better than the ones you make at FS.
Just my two cents, from someone that’s been there.
Word.
And reblogged as someone who hired Matt for reasons having nothing to do with Full Sail (although we did find him through their intern referral program or something… that’s not nothing).
Though if you have access to a lot of blow or weed, you might be able to pay for some of your FS tuition through, er, alternative means.
I went to Expression which was started out of a lawsuit from a former Full Sail employee. I hated every second of school. I went to school to learn how to “Record bands” and I spent 90% of my time learning audio for movies and video games.
Take the $40k it takes to go to Full Sail (Now $90k at Expression) and go build a studio yourself and learn. If you are seriously trying to commit your life to being involved with recording… graduating a $40k school with a -$40k debt and starting your first employment opportunities in the industry as an unpaid intern for minimum 1-2 years isn’t a smart way to plan a responsible financial future in the industry.
Out of all the kids in my graduating class, I’m the only one involved with a recording studio and that’s because I started my own. About 25% got “audio related jobs”, and the other 75% are working a 9-5 in a career un-related to audio wishing they had gone to a different college for a guaranteed career.
Refused - The Shape of Punk To Come
If I had a theme song… this would be it. Fucking party!
This drummer is my favorite drummer… and this record is (in my opinion) the best sounding record I own.
My Favorite Halloween Costume

HAHAHAHA…Donkey Kong Machine is so sad to have to be hanging out with Billy Mitchell.
Fantastic.
So solid! Such a great movie. Steve Wiebie for life!!!
Glassjaw - El Mark
“Who the fuck wants to live forever… anymore?”
Such an awesome song. This song really sealed the deal for Glassjaw being one of my favorite bands. The guitar riffs are literally shredding this entire song. It’s fucking ridiculous! Bass (which I have to mention how badass their bass tones always are… big muff all the way) and drums keeping all the rhythm super solid. Just a bed frame for Daryl to lay down vocals that blow some minds.
I really can’t get over how well Shannon Larkin played drums on Worship & Tribute (This is a B-side off that album apparently) and can’t get over how good his drum tones still sound.
…And obviously Daryl Palumbo is a straight badass. No one mixes singing and screaming as flawlessly as he does. Such a great band. Can’t wait to see them in a few days.
Rivers Cuomo - Can’t Stop Partying
(Does anyone else notice the chord progression is almost identical to Smashing Pumpkin’s - Disarm?)
I love this song, in fact I cannot get it out of my head. I heard it for the first time re-done on the new Weezer record a few days ago… but this is the demo version from his second release of home recordings, and it is really good.
I can’t stop partying… and I won’t stop partying!
